Blackballoon

”Formed in 2006, four piece Birmingham band Blackballoon are a catchy rock band that come equipped with good sing-a-long choruses. They have quickly gathered a good fan base and with some big gigs coming up in the year ahead there future is looking very bright.

As the first band finish and are packing up Blackballoon get on stage and as soon as they do, jump into first song 'Its a Shame'. The band, having only been established about a year has a good stage presence and are very tight. They play with lots of enthusiasm and energy, which makes them all the more exciting to watch. All the songs have a good upbeat feel and a clear love of the music is obvious. Already midway through the set and 'Do You Want Me' gets a good reaction from a decent sized crowd with people cheering loudly. All songs come accompanied with strong drumming and good bass lines that leave lots of room for some excellent guitar work which complements certain aspects of songs perfectly. The vocals are clear and help define the songs giving them a well thought out and rounded feel. A more obvious lead sound could work well and help make some songs stand out from the rest as well as clearer backing vocals but these are only small critiques. Overall Blackballoon play all their songs with a certain honesty that makes it hard to listen too without nodding your head or tapping your foot. All Their songs are enjoyable and get stuck in your head easily. With last song 'More Then Me' finishing and the biggest applause of the night dying out you feel the set is over much to quickly. If you're looking for a good night out go and see these guys before they move on to bigger and better things…”

“I haven't got what I wanted, I haven't got what I needed,
its what I've always wanted, but is it more than me?"
More than me - Blackballoon

A fan's idea...
Where many bands go straight for the jugular and bludgeon the audience to death with their best song first, Blackballoon keep attacking and demanding the audience’s attention because the songs keep coming… with this band there is no mid set lull, no grandstanding at the finish; merely a set of beautifully crafted heartfelt rock songs that demand that you listen, songs played with passion, raw energy and feeling. Most band biographies go on and on talking up the band. Not Blackballoon. Why? Because the songs and the music speaks for itself.
You need to see this band live...
