Joe Cutler (birmingham Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra)
Now Head of Composition at Birmingham Conservatoire, Joe Cutler studied music at Huddersfield and Durham Universities before spending three years studying at the Chopin Academy of Music, Warsaw. In 2002 he was an Arts Council Fellow at the Foundazione Pistoletto in Biella, Italy. His music, which has been performed and broadcast in more than thirty countries worldwide, ranges from orchestra works to solo pieces and he has written for a number of unconventionally scored performance groups such as Ensemble de Ereprijs, and Orkest de Volharding from Holland. He has worked extensively with practitioners from other art forms including visual artists, filmmakers, choreographers and theatre directors. Such projects include the incidental music for Charlotte Jones’ award-winning play Humble Boy.
